Moving from Another Bible Memory App: A Free Alternative
Moving from Another Bible Memory App
Already memorizing with another app, and looking for one that is free? Your verse list can come with you. Most of the ways below take a few minutes, even for a hundred verses.
What You Get for Free
- Every feature: flashcards with spaced repetition, games (puzzle, line up, typing), audio playback and your own recordings, and verse images.
- Every translation: 300+ Bible translations in 48 languages, including the NIV, ESV, NKJV, NASB, NLT and KJV.
- Thousands of verses, synced between Android, iPhone and iPad, Windows and the web app.
- No ads and nothing to buy. Remember Me is run by Poimena, a Swiss nonprofit.
If you are coming from The Bible Memory App (formerly Scripture Typer), this is how the free versions differ:
| Remember Me | The Bible Memory App | |
|---|---|---|
| Price | Free, no paid tier | Lite free; Unlimited $9.99 a month, $49.99 a year or $99 lifetime |
| Verses in the free version | Thousands | 50 |
| Translations in the free version | All 300+ | A few, such as the KJV; premium translations (NIV, ESV and others) with Unlimited |
| Flashcards and audio recording | Free | With Unlimited |
The Bible Memory App’s prices are from biblememory.com and its App Store listing, checked on 7 November 2026. The 50-verse cap is the one it stated in 2025, in its newsletter and on its pricing page, and users still report it in 2026. For all features and more apps, see Best Bible Memory Apps 2026.
Step 1: Gather Your List
Look in Discover first. Many lists people memorize are already published as collections, for example the Navigators’ Topical Memory System and 100 Bible Verses Everyone Should Know by Heart. Search for them under “Discover” in the app and subscribe: the verses arrive in one go (see Collections).
Copy your own references. For everything else, copy the references of your verses — one per line, such as John 3:16 or Romans 8:28-30 — into a note or an email. If your old app has an export (a CSV or text file), use it. The Bible Memory App has no export that we could find (November 2026), but it lists your verses in the app and on biblememory.com when you are signed in, so you can copy the references from there.
Step 2: Bring the Verses Over
Choose the way that suits your list.
With an AI Assistant: Fastest for a Long List
- Connect Remember Me to Claude or ChatGPT. It takes a minute; see Connect an AI Assistant. Claude lists Remember Me in its connector directory and works on the free plan.
- Paste your list and say which translation and label you want, for example: “Add these verses to my Remember Me account in the ESV, under the label Memory Verses: John 3:16, Romans 8:28, Philippians 4:6-7 …”
- The assistant checks which verses you already have, shows you the cards it is about to add, and adds them all at once when you agree.
The assistant writes out the verse text itself, so check a few cards against your Bible. Some assistants decline to write out a whole list in a copyrighted translation such as the NIV. Then ask for a public-domain translation such as the KJV, or use one of the ways below. An assistant can add up to 100 verses per request and 300 per day.
With a CSV File: For Your Own Texts
If you have the verse texts, for example from an export or a document, put them in a spreadsheet with the columns Reference, Passage, Source, Topic, Commit date, Review date, Level, Labels, Image URL and Note. Only Reference and Passage are required. Keep a row of column headings at the top: the first row is skipped. Save it as CSV, then in the app open the file menu in the visibility bar on the right and choose “Import from file”. The column format is described under Export/Import Verses as File (CSV).
In the App: For a Few Verses or a Whole Chapter
Tap “+” in the “New” box, enter a reference and pick a translation under “Source”. The Bible button then opens the passage so that you can paste it in (see Retrieving a Passage). For a chapter, enter the whole range, such as Romans 8:1-39, retrieve it with verse numbers, and use Split into separate verses to get one card per verse (see Split a Passage).
Step 3: Pick Up Where You Left Off
New verses start in the New box, where you study them with games before they move into your review schedule. Verses you already know don’t need to start over. Select them in the New box by tapping their badges, open the menu and choose “To review”: they move to the Due box. There, select them again and choose “Remembered”: they move to the Known box (see Moving Verses). For a long list with your own review history, a CSV file can carry each verse’s level and last review date instead. From then on, Remember Me brings each verse back for review just before you would forget it.
Moving a Group or Church
If your group memorized with another app, publish your list as a collection. Members subscribe on their own phones, and you can follow the group’s progress without seeing anyone’s personal data. Collections and campaigns are free for any number of members. See Publish a Collection and Bible Memory Campaigns.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I move my verses from The Bible Memory App (formerly Scripture Typer) to Remember Me?
Yes. We found no export in The Bible Memory App (November 2026), but it shows your verse references in the app and on biblememory.com, so you can copy them. Paste the list into Claude or ChatGPT with the Remember Me connector and ask it to add the verses, or put the references and verse texts in a CSV file and import it in Remember Me. Popular lists such as the Navigators’ Topical Memory System are already in Remember Me’s Discover, ready to subscribe.
Is there a free alternative to The Bible Memory App?
Remember Me is free in full: flashcards, games, spaced repetition, audio recording and 300+ Bible translations, with no ads and no paid tier, for thousands of verses. The Bible Memory App’s free version, Lite, is limited to 50 verses (the cap it stated in 2025, which users still report in 2026), and its Unlimited plan costs $9.99 a month, $49.99 a year or $99 lifetime (November 2026). Remember Me is run by Poimena, a Swiss nonprofit.
Will I keep my progress when I switch Bible memory apps?
Your review history stays in the old app, but you don’t have to start from scratch. After adding your verses to Remember Me, select the ones you already know in the New box and choose “To review” in the menu, then select them in the Due box and choose “Remembered”: they move to the Known box. In a CSV file you can instead set each verse’s level and last review date.
How many verses can I memorize for free in Remember Me?
Thousands. Remember Me holds thousands of verses for you at no cost, and every feature and translation is free. There is nothing to buy and no ads.
